weekend

This weekend I decided to explore a little bit of Charlotte, North Carolina. I need to start thinking and researching which area of Charlotte I want to get an apartment in. Thankfully the weather was warm and sunny!!

Saturday morning:
9am Alison and I went for a 3 mile run with a running group I found on meetup. There was probably about 15 runners. After the run through the neighbor, I got a chai latte at Smelly Cat Coffee House and chatted with some of the other runners. The conversation was great but the chai was a little watery and not very favorfully. Then we walked over to Jack Beagles for breakfast. Delicious!!

Sunday morning:
At noon, Alison and I got our picture taken with Santa at Pet Essential. They were so patient with Alison. She did not like Santa's white beard. I had 5 shots to choice from, two different poses. The proceeds go towards the CMPD (Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department) Animal Care & Control spay/neuter clinic. Then we headed over to a dog park. Alison had some nervous energy to let go of. By that time it's 2pm, time for lunch. I decided to check out Viet-Thai Noodle House on our way back to the hotel. Delicious!!! I had vegetable pho with tofu and Vietnamese coffee. The food was so good is Vietnam, I miss it. I definitely recommend this place!!

For Stacy's birthday, we went out for sushi at Sushi Axiom. Kathy and I shared the vegetable roll, asparagus roll and avocado roll. They were ok.
Then afterwards we went across the street to Capital Pub for a couple drinks.

Saturday May 9th

Saturday morning at 10am Stacy, Kathy, Susan, Carol, Amanda and I started our 2.5 mile walk to Garden Cafe for brunch. Delicious!!! The cafe has a garden in the back (that is where the picture was taken) where they pick their herbs and some of their vegetables. Afterwards we walked along Swiss Ave where all the old mansions are to Paciugo for some gelato then home. It was a perfect day for a 5 hour walk!

Sunday April 5th

Breakfast is my favorite meal! I love going out for brunch on the weekends with friends. I think it is the perfect way to start a day. So, I am always on the lookout for a new place to try. On Sunday, Faith, Shawn and I tried Another Broken Egg at the corner of Grand and Beckner (east side of White Rock Lake). I drive pass it every Saturday on my way to flag football. Finally decided to try it out. Delicious!! Cute neighborhood cafe!

Rain, rain go away

Some co-workers and I went to lunch at Fedora Restaurant today. It is about .3 miles away from work. A nice walk. The food was ok. I had the house salad and tomato soup. Nothing too wow but I would go again.

The fun came as we were leaving. Started raining pretty steadily. Did I bring my umbrella? Of course not. I am now sitting at work a little wet.

Saturday March 14th

I ran the Dash Down Greenville St Patty Day Run in 29.49 minutes!!! My fastest 5k!!! St Paddys (not Pattys, Paddys) Day is HUGE down in Dallas. People were tailgating at 830am while I was running. I guess there was a parade at 11am. The lower part of Greenville Ave is closed off because of all the people walking around the bars. Everyone was wearing green.

After the run, I had brunch with some friends at Breadwinners in Uptown Dallas. A little pricey but good food!

Later that night, Jennifer, Brent, Erin, Todd and I went to see the Wild vs Stars game. It was fun!! Brent was the only non-Minnesotan in the group. When the Wild scored, Jennifer and I would stand up and cheer!

a new restaurant I want to try

Cafe Agri opened at 4300 Bryant Avenue South in Minneapolis last Saturday, offering a menu emphasizing fresh local and/or organic ingredients. Vegetarians and open-minded omnivores may be intrigued by the hazelnut asparagus and seared maple tofu, which features a tamari, citrus, chipotle, and kiwi marinade and coconut purple rice. Meat-eaters may zoom in on the seared Wisconsin trout, which includes an herb rub, root vegetables, and leek. Either way, the menu is intriguingly conceived.
