New TV Show

The Goode Family is on ABC, just started.

"Meet Gerald and Helen Goode, a couple who live by the motto WWAGD ("What Would Al Gore Do?"). Gerald, a college administrator, and Helen, a community activist, are determined to obliterate their carbon footprint on the planet: They're zealous vegans, they drive a hybrid, and they recycle everything possible. Even the family dog, Che, is vegan. In the words of Helen, all the Goodes want to do is buy organic apples and call minorities by their right names. But despite their best efforts, something always goes haywire with their politically correct plans." ~ abc.com

Memorial Weekend in MN

Saw Julie Thursday night. Met at Oak City with Drew and Anna. I have not seen Julie since August. It was nice to catch-up!Faith and I!!!
After swimming Friday afternoon, Sara and I had Faith try on dresses at a local thrift store.
At the dam in Pine City with my aunt and Faith before visiting my great-grandma. When my great-grandma still had she house, after Thansgiving all the women and kids would walk to the dam. It was nice talking about old family memories with aunt Kim.
I love lilacs! They smell wonderful, very fragrant!!
More flowers!
A view of downtown Minneapolis from Lake Calhoun. Drew and I walked around the lake (3.1miles) after dinner Saturday night. It was a wonderful, resting weekend!

Fringe Festival

I just signed up to volunteer for the Fringe Festival July 30th and August 7th in Minneapolis!! This will be my fourth or fifth year volunteering. Love it!! From the website:
Q. What is Fringe?
A. Minnesota Fringe is a Minneapolis-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to connect adventurous artists with adventurous audiences. The biggest way we do this is by organizing the Minnesota Fringe Festival, an annual eleven-day performing arts extravaganza. In 2008, we issued 40,929 tickets to 154 shows. Most Fringe shows are 60 minutes or less and there's a 30-minute break between each show.

Q. When is Fringe?
A. Thursday, July 30 through Sunday, August 9, 2009 is our next festival. Give or take, Fringe is always the first two weekends (and the sandwiched weekdays) of August each year.

Q. Where is Fringe?
A. In the Uptown, West Bank and Northeast-North Loop districts of Minneapolis. In 2008, there were 14 venues standard Fringe venues and BYOV (Bring Your Own Venue) locations for site-specific works.

So as of right now, the plan it to arrive in MN 11pm on July 29. Probably volunteer at three shows for the Fringe Festival then get ready for my camping trip on the 30th. July 31st thru August 6th, Faith, I and eight other are to to backpack around Isle Royale, an island off of Michigan. Volunteer at another three shows on the 7th. My dad is getting married on Saturday the 8th. Then I fly out back to Dallas on Sunday the 9th. Four days later I leave for my Berlin, Vienna, Prague and Budapest trip!!!

Sunday May 17th

GORGEOUS day on Sunday!!! I believe it was in the 80s. Beautiful day to be outside!!! Ate brunch outside at the pool with some people from the apartment complex, walked a little bit around white rock lake, about eleven of us from the apartment complex walked to the Lakewood Shopping Area where there was a festival and ate at Matts. Got a little sun burnt on my shoulders!!
The next couple days are going to be crunch time at work. Leaving for MN of Thursday. I need to have anything looking good before I go. Land in MN at 740pm, probably hang out with Jena and Julie. Friday I am going to Faith's school to eat lunch with her. Hopfully visit Stef and the Wilkowski. Visit my 96 year old great-grandma on Saturday with my aunt. Then Sunday have brunch at my other aunt's house. Leave Monday at 730am. Hoping to kidnap my sister Faith for pretty much the whole time while I am there.Faith and I at the Britney Spears concert during her spring break visit in March.

Friday May 15

Tonight I am going to Late Nights at Dallas Museum of Art. The museum has the Late Nights once a month. It is open until midnight and they have special events going on. Tonight, they have two novelists talking about their books, movies playing (1959 The Mummy and 1932 The Mummy), belly dancing, jazz, and one of the tours I want to go on is about Powerful Women in History. Going to be a fun night!

Saturday May 9th

Saturday morning at 10am Stacy, Kathy, Susan, Carol, Amanda and I started our 2.5 mile walk to Garden Cafe for brunch. Delicious!!! The cafe has a garden in the back (that is where the picture was taken) where they pick their herbs and some of their vegetables. Afterwards we walked along Swiss Ave where all the old mansions are to Paciugo for some gelato then home. It was a perfect day for a 5 hour walk!
